Observation #1

My observation area is the old Cottonwood Park, located just off of High School road. The area is almost entirely man made with a jungle gym, large area of grass, and a dry pond and creek. There is no water coming into the creek, however, 112 strides in a semi-direct line to the northeast, there is a stagnant pool of water containing a small population of about twenty water striders and mud. Even further upstream is a swollen creek that the water from the pond would come from. As for the flora in the area, there was much biodiversity such as aspens, willows, moss, pine trees, and dried grasses. However, with no water in the area, fauna was scarce. I found almost no animals except for the water striders further north. Theses insect's niche would be to feed the birds that were not present physically, but vocally around my site. Although, I did find some scat from a domesticated breed of canine, which doesn't count. In the coming four weeks, I am excited to see the changes the park undergoes with the incoming of precious water.
